My happy place is art! I have obsessively created my entire life. I have made birdhouses, made stained glass, decouppaged furniture, embroidered my clothes, quilted wall hangings, poured resin, made cards….but once I started making jewelry, I was in love!
In 2000 I left my job as a registered nurse to pursue this dream. During that time, I was selling my jewelry at craft and trade shows and in 2003 I opened my first brick and mortar store.
I have enjoyed building relationships with other creatives in our community which inspired me to create the Artist Marketplace. I created a place where local artists could share their talents with the community. For 25 years, local artists were featured in the store, closing this June so I could have more time to travel and teach art classes.
It was an easy compliment to the store to begin teaching art classes and Spark was born. I named it Spark (as in find your creative spark and set your inner artist free!), not Sparkle, because Spark is for boys too. It was through Spark I found my true happy place, bringing the joy of art to others through classes and events. My hope is that through these classes we are able to bring a little bit of joy to the community and others can find their happy place in art too!
