Mosaic Class, $25 - Saturday September 20th, 11-12:30, Learn to make a mosaic tile, taught by Ann Peden

$25.00

Need something fun to do on a Saturday am? Come join us and learn how to make a mosaic project at Spark this Saturday, September 20th from 11-12:30. This is a new project and I love it! No experience necessary, all supplies provided. First we will do a simple sketch of the design you choose (not too complicated - maybe a butterfly, ladybug, heart, moon, initial, etc.). We will use ceramic tiles as the substrate (substrate is the base you build the mosaic on), apply tile adhesive and then choose from our trays and trays of ceramics, pebbles, beads, etc to create your own design. Make one tile or two, depending on how complex your pattern is. I’m new to mosaics myself - got started because we have boxes of ceramic projects that have never been picked up and I can’t bear to throw them away but they are great materials to use for mosaics. For all ages, I think you will fall in love with this easy way to create art! And coming to Spark is always a great opportunity to spend time with someone special so bring a friend if you'd like and come learn something new at Spark! $25, taught by Ann Peden

Here’s everything you need to know if you have signed up for Open Studio Time!

Please come to the store (Ann Peden at 1430 Capital Ave in Market Place next to Your Pie) and the staff there will direct you upstairs to Spark. Painting is one of our projects, so you may want to wear something you can get paint on, but we do have art smocks too. Ann is the teacher at Open Studio and will give you a mini-tour of all of the projects offered and each participant can pick what they’d like. If you are bringing more than one person, we prefer if they choose the same project as it is easier to give directions and help along the way if they are doing the same thing. If you have been to Spark before and you know what project they would like to do, please let us know in advance because that helps us to make set up quicker and easier. But no worries if they don’t know what they’d like to do, we show samples of all of them and they can choose!

Some questions we often hear -

*does the adult need to stay? You can stay (fun time together!) or you can come back in an hour and a half. If the child is 6 and under, we do request that the adult stay.

*can my child do a project that is not on the list? Often a child has been to Spark before and wants to do a project that is not on the list for Open Studio (i.e. melted crayon art, string art, polymer clay) - depending on the number of people attending, we may be able to accommodate that project but we do need to communicate in advance if that is possible as we offer over 100 projects at Spark and can not have all of the materials for every project out and ready to go.

*how old does my child need to be to come to Open Studio? All ages can participate with the parent present! We love the littles and as long as a parent or grandparent is there as their assistant, they can do the project with their special helper.
